Jesus-like hair clearly works for this handsome gentleman pictured below, for Antonio
Banderas in Desperado, and for Jesus. The length and breadth of their manes conspicuously personifies individuality, cavalier brashness, and son-of-God-edness, respectively. But for this featured filipino, the summer heat -as well as his selflessness- prompted him to transform his headshape, and perhaps, just maybe, transform other people's lives for the better.

I don't remember if this is a photo of G, Antonio Banderas, or Jesus. They all look so similar. I'll take a shot in the dark and say it's G at Boston University graduation. Obviously the long hair works for him. Nobody poses in such a manner without a major dose of hair-derived self-confidence. Nonetheless, after 1.5+ years of unbridled hair growth, he decided to lop it off for a good cause.

I took part in said lopping. Cutting through all that hair was a tough assignment, but my Battle of the Barrios t-shirt and I were up for the task. I did a relatively uneven job cutting the pony tail off. Good thing I want to be a surgeon and not a hair stylist... wait....

Leaving it to the professionals to do a good job. Although I lobbied for him to keep the
Flock of
Seagulls look, nobody seemed to agree. And the cutting continues...

Jealous, Rapunzel?! This goes to Locks of Love!

Finished product! He said he looked weird, but I'm sure that's only because he hasn't seen his ears in over 365 days. Before I noted his confidence stemmed from his Samson-like 'do, but now we see this less-haired version of a man with equatable aplomb, it is clear his self-assurance came from within...or from him chiseled jawline (but that's for another blog entry). The internal splendor remained dormant behind that veil of black tresses, but now the hair is gone and off to a good, nay, GREAT cause, the inner self can shine through like sunrays piercing through storm clouds.
It's been said that 'less is more,' but in the case of his hair, less is definitely less. Over ten inches less, to be unexact. But less is indeed more when I think about this enterprising young man's generosity to give what he can to those who cannot on their own. I couldn't be more proud of him.
